 Obviously a problem relating to why men consider their sport to be the champion in of its respective field is because often the men were the inventors and rule makers when the sports were developed. As we all know women at the time were often expected to stay in the home and wash the men's sports kits after an afternoon of playing.

What men forget is that in the short time women have been competing on a level playing field with the men, we have organised World Cups and European Championships in football; have competed in the Olympics in perceived male sports such as field hockey, discus, basketball and rowing, while also pursuing our careers in male dominated areas of sport.

Female jockeys can compete with their male counterparts, while perhaps the most obvious example of a woman's sporting prowess in male dominated sports comes in the marathons. Here women and men can run as equals with professional and amateur female athletes regularly outrunning scores of men over one of the most challenging feats of sporting and indeed human endurance which can be measured.

There are countless examples of males coaching females to sporting success but there are very few examples of females coaching men to victory. In Italy a female manager was put in charge of a fourth division club in the 2000s, she lasted less than a year before being dismissed. Even this was perceived to be a publicity stunt by the club owner Luciano Guacci, realistically meaning that there have been no female football managers appointed because of their knowledge. Clearly no matter how far we have come to win over male sportsmen there are still some races which need to be run.
