  If there is one thing which can upset a female athlete it is the fear of being injured, particularly if the injury is self inflicted. Obviously different types of sports require different warm up techniques. If you are primarily playing a sport such as football or hockey, it is important to limber up the leg muscles to guard against strains. If you are playing basketball or competing in gymnastics, strong arms and wrists are a must if you are to have a chance of succeeding in these disciplines. Swimmers need to ensure that they do not pull any stomach muscles when stretching in order to reach the finishing line.

With this in mind we suggest that before every training session a light workload of warm-up moves should be carried out in order to prepare. For any competitive sporting events a meticulous warm-up plan should be implemented, one which allows muscles to be lightly stretched without over-straining. Following the event or training session a light warm-down should be carried out to prevent muscles from tightening too soon.
